A newly established mountain bike track is adding 6.5km of thrill factor to the Tahune Forest Airwalk in Tasmania’s South.
Individuals and families are able to hire mountain bikes from the Tahune Airwalk Visitor Centre through a partnership between Forestry Tasmania and Mountain Bikes Tasmania.
The track enables riders to test their stamina and skills and the setting gives them the opportunity to get out and explore the area and take in the beauty of the forests first hand.
An easy gravel road gives way to damp closed in vegetation and button grass flat track. Take a break on the edge of the Picton River and watch out for platypus, surrounded by magnificent old growth Eucalypts with a dense rainforest understorey.
The track is suitable for most riders and children over 10 years old only.
Cost is $25 for 2 hours.
